CLEVELAND, Ohio - The underdog Cavs were overwhelmed in Game 1 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals Wednesday night, as the Boston Celtics took the opener 115-89.
Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics with 29 points, while Jaylen Brown added 23 and Marcus Smart chipped in with 18. The Cavs were led by Darius Garland's 21 points, but no other Cavalier reached double figures.
The Celtics jumped out to a quick lead in the first quarter, and they never looked back. They led by 15 points at halftime, and they extended their lead to 26 points in the third quarter. The Cavs never threatened in the fourth quarter, as the Celtics cruised to an easy victory.
The Celtics now have a 1-0 lead in the series, and they will host Game 2 on Friday night.
