VAR could be set for introduction in Norway
A proposal will be put forward to the Norwegian Football Association this week for the introduction of Video Assistant Referees (VAR).
As reported by Norwegian newspaper VG, it has been suggested that VAR will be in place for the start of the 2023 season.
The proposal will be put to the board of the Norwegian NFF this week, and it is likely to be approved.
VAR has been used in major competitions for a number of years, and it has been generally well-received. The technology has been used in the FIFA World Cup, the European Championship, and the UEFA Champions League.
VAR is used to review decisions made by the referee, such as goals, penalties, and red cards. The video assistant referee (VAR) is a match official who reviews the footage of the incident and advises the referee on whether to change the decision or not.
VAR has been shown to be accurate in many cases, and it has helped to reduce the number of incorrect decisions made by referees. However, there have also been some concerns about the use of VAR, such as the potential for delays and the impact on the flow of the game.
If VAR is introduced in Norway, it will be the latest country to adopt the technology. VAR is currently used in over 50 countries worldwide.
