A Tale Of Ice And Fire

The History of Dueling Dragons

A Tale of Ice and Fire

WEB Dueling Dragons was a pair of dueling inverted roller coasters located at Universal's Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida, USA. The coasters were named "Fire" and "Ice," and they featured a unique design that allowed them to race side-by-side through the majority of the layout. Dueling Dragons was completed on time for the opening of Islands of Adventure on May 28, 1999, and at the time it was the only fully inverted dueling roller coaster in the world.

The coasters were designed by Bolliger & Mabillard, and they featured a number of innovative elements, including a "heartline roll" element that inverted riders twice in a row. Dueling Dragons was also one of the first roller coasters to feature a "launch" system, which propelled the trains out of the station at high speed.

Dueling Dragons was a popular attraction at Islands of Adventure for many years, but it was eventually closed in 2017 to make way for a new attraction. The coasters were removed from the park in 2018, and they were sold to a park in China.
